Old-fashioned Banana Nut Bread – measure a few ingredients into one bowl, mix and bake- it is that easy! I always make extra loaves and wrap them in plastic wrap to either enjoy later or give as a gift. You can thaw the entire loaf or just individual slices as desired. I like to eat it warm with a pat of sweet butter and a steaming hot cup of strong coffee!
These disposable paper loaf pans are ideal to use for gifts and are readily available at most grocery and craft stores. Bake your bread in one of these pretty little pans, wrap, and freeze or give away!
I’ve been using this recipe for over 30 years and it has not failed me yet! The result is a dense, moist, slightly sweet bread that keeps well for several days at room temperature.
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup sugar
- 3½ teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 3 Tablespoons vegetable oil
- ¾ cup whole milk
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup chopped nuts
- 3 ripe bananas, mashed
- Heat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour a 9 x 5 loaf pan. Measure all ingredients into a large bowl and beat on medium speed for approximately 1 minute. Pour into prepared pan(s). Bake 50 to 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. You can also use two 8½ x 4½ x 2½ loaf pans or into individual muffin cups. Adjust baking time accordingly.
